About WizEar

Hearing Health Care to all

WizEar is a not-for-profit organisation registered in Zimbabwe (PVO 09/2015). Two Medical Doctors Dr. Clement Chidziva and Professor Chris Prescott founded the organisation in 2008 and initially registered it as a trust in 2010. It was eventually registered as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO) in 2015. The organisation focuses on ear and hearing services and complements the work of the Zimbabwe Ministry of Health and Child Care (ZMOHCC) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Services in the provision of these services. WizEar has a memorandum of understanding with ZMOHCC and operates throughout Zimbabwe.

Our objectives in line with our registration as a PVO are:

  • To establish a social partnership between government, civil society and business that tackle ear and hearing healthcare provision in Zimbabwe
  • To facilitate provision of comprehensive ear and hearing healthcare in Zimbabwe
  • To develop strategies, policy recommendations and programs aimed at improving ear and hearing healthcare through research into the region specific and cost effectiveness approaches

At WizEar, we believe that hearing health is not a privilege but a right. Every child deserves the chance to learn, every adult deserves the opportunity to work, and every family deserves the joy of communication without barriers. Guided by our Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Health and Child Care, we are proud to stand as Zimbabwe’s leading partner in advancing ear and hearing care.

Our journey is one of resilience and collaboration—working hand in hand with communities, schools, government, and international partners to expand access to screenings, audiology services, hearing aids, and professional training. Together, we are building sustainable systems that ensure no one is left behind.

As Director, I am deeply committed to strengthening WizEar’s impact, securing resources for our clinical teams, and championing awareness so that hearing health becomes a national priority. With the support of our partners and donors, we will continue to transform lives, province by province, family by family.
