Delivered in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Association of Audiologists and Speech Pathologists (ZAASP) and the Zimbabwe Society of Otolaryngologists (ZiSOL), this initiative strengthened national capacity by equipping audiologists with up-to-date knowledge, evidence-based practices, and global standards in hearing healthcare. By fostering collaboration and shared learning, the program enhanced expertise nationwide and reinforced Zimbabwe’s alignment with international best practices.

WizEar hosts the Public Health Planning for Hearing Impairment course in partnership with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the University of Zimbabwe. This program equips health professionals with the knowledge and tools to integrate hearing health into broader public health strategies, fostering evidence-based planning and sustainable service delivery. By bridging international expertise with local context, WizEar is strengthening Zimbabwe’s capacity to address hearing loss at a national level.

Training

Basic Ear and Hearing Health Training

WizEar has strengthened rural hospitals by delivering basic ear and hearing health training to  health professionals, with a strong emphasis on early intervention. The program equips nurses, general practitioners, and community health workers to recognize hearing problems in children and adults at the earliest stages, provide initial management, and ensure timely referrals for specialized care. By embedding these skills within rural facilities, WizEar is reducing delays in diagnosis, improving language and learning outcomes for children, and expanding access to hearing healthcare in underserved communities
