WizEar conducts regular ear camps in communities. Ear camps are outreaches held across Zimbabwe to bring hearing healthcare closer to those who need it most. These camps are designed to overcome barriers of distance and cost by providing screenings, hearing aid fittings, and referrals directly within local settings. The emphasis is on early detection and intervention, ensuring children and adults receive timely support before hearing loss affects quality of life. Since inception, WizEar has hosted an estimated over 50 ear camps, reaching thousands of beneficiaries and strengthening community-based access to hearing care.

Newborn Hearing Screening

WizEar introduced newborn hearing screening at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, marking a major milestone in early detection of hearing loss in Zimbabwe in line with global gold standard of early intervention . This initiative ensures timely intervention during critical stages of child development. By equipping the hospital with modern audiology equipment and training staff to conduct routine screenings, WizEar has shifted care from risk-based testing to a broader goal of universal screening, positioning Mashonaland West as a leader in pediatric hearing healthcare.
Sally Mugabe Children’s Hospital ENT and Audiology unit
WizEar sustains Zimbabwe first public hospital pediatric ENT unit through ongoing service delivery.
WizEar established and equipped the Pediatric ENT Unit at Sally Mugabe Children’s Hospital, creating a dedicated space where children receive treatment for ENT conditions and undergo comprehensive hearing assessments. Outfitted with modern diagnostic tools and staffed by trained professionals, the unit has become a national referral center for pediatric ear and hearing care. WizEar continues to support the clinic by providing specialized services directly within the unit, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality care. The initiative represents a model of sustainable development—strengthening public health infrastructure, building local capacity, and securing long-term access to hearing healthcare for Zimbabwe’s children.
